Forum Rules

This forum is provided by Scottish Life, a marketing division of Royal London, in order to provide an area for discussion on matters regarding pensions and the UK pensions industry. We believe that this forum will prove to be of genuine benefit to the UK IFA community but in order that everyone may receive the maximum benefit from their participation these rules must be obeyed at all times.

This site may contain links posted by forum users to other web sites and files. We have no control over the content of these sites or files and cannot therefore ensure it will not be offensive or objectionable. We will, however, remove links to material that we feel is inappropriate as soon as we become aware of them.

By logging in to this forum all users agree to follow the rules below:

1. You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material that is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, hateful, harassing, threatening, invasive of a persons privacy or other in violation of any law.
2. You will not post commercially orientated posts to promote your own commercial interests or those of any other party. This includes, but is not restricted to, any posts that constitutes a Financial Promotion as defined in the rules of the Financial Services Authority.
3. You agree not to post or provide links to any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by Scottish Life or you have the express permission of the copyright owner.
4. You agree not to post or provide links to any information that is in contravention of the Data Protection Act.
5. You will not use expressions that are considered foul, vulgar, sexually harassing, racially offensive or in any way discriminatory. These expressions include, but are not limited to, ethnic slurs, hate speech and religious epithets. Whether an expression fits under this definition will be determined by Scottish Life staff at the time.
6. You will only post messages that are within the particular forum's scope or topic.
7. You will respect the rights of other users to have their own opinions.
8. You will use descriptive subject titles when posting new threads.
9. Please do not hijack threads for your own purpose but start a new one with the new subject.
10. You will not argue with or question the actions/authority of Scottish Life staff.
11. You will not use this forum to discuss the merits or flaws of individual providers insurance products, whether they be a Scottish Life product or another companies.
12. You will not use this forum to discuss or request information on a specific Scottish Life policy.
13. Please do not post in capitals. This is considered to be shouting and can cause offence.
14. You will e-mail any complaints regarding another user to the administrator, not post them on the board.
15. You remain solely responsible for the content of your posts and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Scottish Life and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your post.
16. You accept that Scottish Life retain the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any post authored by you.

Misuses and Penalities


If, for any reason, you are in violation of any of the rules of the forum or the User Agreement then your privileges to post to this Board will be reviewed by a Scottish Life Moderator. This Moderator may amend or delete any post or thread in contravention of the rules above.

Where possible Scottish Life staff will contact any violator and ask them to moderate their behaviour, however Scottish Life retain the right to take any action without directly informing the user. Repeated or extreme abuse may cause Scottish Life to withdraw access to this service from the user. In extreme cases Scottish Life may contact the user's ISP or relevant authorities if it is considered appropriate. Any action taken subsequent to a violation is at the sole discretion of Scottish Life staff.
