Pensions Update 137 announced changes to the maximum funding basis for SSASs. The revised funding basis has been added to IR12 PNs under Appendix IX. The new funding basis will effect all new SSASs from 11 March 2003 and all existing SSASs from the next funding re-assessment. The changes only expand or clarify the current guidance, e.g. the current valuation of existing assets and pension sharing on divorce. No changes have been made to underlying assumptions.
