About Steve

Steve Bee is Head of Pensions Strategy at the Royal London Group (Scottish Life)

Awards

Steve has won a number of major industry awards, including Money Marketing’s industry "Personality of the Year" in 2004 and 2005 and "Outstanding Contribution to the Industry" in 2006 and 2007.

As well as being a commentator on pension issues, Steve is also a regular contributor to the financial press writing well-respected and long-standing columns for Pensions Week, Pensions Management and Money Marketing. In his spare time he is also a professional cartoonist and has produced the pocket cartoon for Money Management magazine for the last ten years.  He drew the highly popular cartoon strip 'Planet Stakeholder' for Pensions Week for seven years and today writes and draws the ‘Penpushers’ Progress’ strip. He is also the creator of the innovative ‘Pensions Conversations’ in Pensions Week.

In a fusion of his two main interests, pensions and cartooning, Steve achieved notoriety some years ago by becoming the only person ever to have submitted a paper in evidence to a Commons Select Committee in cartoon-strip format. However, his main claim to fame lies in the field of pensions where he is acknowledged as one of the leading experts on pension developments in the UK today.

The BeeHive

The BeeHive started at the end of 2002 and regularly attracts over 28,000 visitors a month. Steve’s 'press articles' and regular 'BeeLines' on all pension related matters are added to the site a number of times every week. The popular BeeHive 'Pensions Radio' podcasts, which started in June 2007 are broadcast fortnightly and feature interviews with politicians and leading personalities on the UK pensions scene.

Dedicated to 'explaining pension gobbledegook', the BeeHive has attracted an avid readership and enthusiastic reviews. The BeeHive was included in The Times' list of 'Best 50 Business Blogs' in June 2007.
