Direct Debit FAQs

If you haven't used Direct Debit before in this context you may have some questions. Hopefully the questions and answers below will help you but if you need further help then please contact our support team on 0845 60 50 401 or by email.

Q  How will you know how much to collect?

A  It's based on the total of your online submission - we can't collect a penny more or less than the total on your contribution schedule.

Q  How long after we submit online will the money be taken from the bank account?

A  Three working days or any date in the month you specified when submitting the schedule.

Q Will you still collect money if I forget to submit my online schedule?

A  No. You maintain control. The amount is collected only when you submit the schedule online.

Q  Will I also need to contact the bank for you to collect the money?

A  No. Once the online instruction is in place (you can either do this over the phone or in writing) no further contact with the bank is required.

Q  Why can't I just pay by cheque?

A  You can pay by cheque if you wish to. However, with Direct Debit there is no possibility of a time delay in processing. Also Direct Debits do not require to be put in the mail and so can't go missing. All in all Direct Debits are safer and quicker.

Q  Why can't I just pay by BACS?

A  You can pay by BACS. However, with Direct Debit you do not have to contact your bank each time you have a payment to advise them of the amount to transfer. Using Direct Debit allows the entire transaction to be completed in one procedure, so its easier for you.
